Nanbanhe Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is at Baimazhai in Yingpanjie, Jinping County, Yunnan. The Nanbanhe Fm was named by Yunnan Team of Regional Geological Survey in 1975, and was published by Yunnan Compiling Group for Regional Stratigraphic Scale (1981). Following the naming of the Nanbanhe Fm, Lai et al. (1982) named the strata equivalent to the Nanbanhe Fm at Baimazhai, Pingbahe and Tongchang in Jinping the Tongchang Fm on the basis of Hu Rongming's (1976) unpublished data. Considering its being named later, the present book does not maintain the Tongchang Fm.
Synonym: (南板河组）
Lithology and Thickness
The formation is composed of gray quartzose siltstone intercalated with gray argillaceous siltstone, with limestone in the upper part. The formation is 11-15 m thick in type area.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests conformably on the sandstone and siltstone at the top of the Xiangyang Fm (present Shidian Fm)
Upper contact
It is conformably overlain by the limestone at the base of the Dapingzi Fm
